Before contacting support, please check our Help Center.
Most questions can be resolved instantly using our help articles, without needing to wait for a response. Our Customer Heroes will endeavour to reply within 1–2 business days, however this can be longer during busy times so checking the Help Center first is the fastest way to get help.
When you upload a bill to be paid, you must choose the date that you want us to pay it. Your bill will be reviewed before payment can proceed. Approval, sending the payment and the biller’s receipt or clearing of funds are separate steps.
Check your payment schedule before confirming. If you are using Pay in 4 and reschedule your first installment payment, your bill payment date will move to the new date. The first installment is paid when Deferit pays your bill.
Payment timing depends on your biller’s accepted method:
For bills we pay directly to your biller, there are three steps:
- We review your bill: Submit a valid bill through your account before 5pm EST on a business day, and we’ll let you know whether it’s approved by the next business day. Bills submitted after 5pm EST or on a non-business day are reviewed within the next two business days. We can’t accept bills by email or messaging.
- We send your payment: Once your bill is approved and your first installment is paid, we’ll send or initiate payment within four banking business days. For Bill Pay (Pay in 1), you’ll need to pay the full amount first.
- Your biller receives the payment: Sending payment doesn’t mean your biller has received or processed it. Allow extra time depending on their payment method Online/electronic payments are the fastest (although can take longer during busy periods). ACH payments and checks may take longer, especially around holidays. We will require your explicit consent to pay via check.
Please plan ahead: Submit your bill early enough for payment to reach your biller before its due date. Your biller may still charge late fees.
Using a virtual card? You’ll need to pay your biller yourself before the card expires and in time to meet your bill’s due date. The four-business-day timeframe above applies only to payments we send directly to your biller.
Trouble seeing your payment with your biller?
If your biller hasn’t recognised our payment yet, share the receipt number from your Bills tab once the bill shows as paid — it’s the fastest way for them to locate the payment. If you need further help please contact customer service.
