Broad River Electric Cooperative is one of 20 member-owned electric cooperatives in South Carolina, founded in 1940. It serves more than 21,200 member-owners across four counties in South Carolina (Cherokee, Spartanburg, Union, and Newberry) and portions of three counties in North Carolina (Cleveland, Polk, and Rutherford), maintaining approximately 2,750 miles of power lines. The cooperative provides electric service to residential and commercial customers throughout its service area.
