Need to split your PSE&G bill into installments?
PSE&G offers a Deferred Payment Arrangement (DPA) for customers who are behind on their bill but cannot pay the past-due balance all at once. Under a DPA, the customer pays the regular monthly bill plus an agreed installment toward the past-due balance. Set up a DPA by logging in to My Account or calling 1-800-357-2262.
PSE&G also offers an Equal Payment Plan (EPP), which estimates annual energy costs based on prior usage and divides the total into 12 equal monthly payments. An annual true-up applies if actual usage differs from the estimate.
AutoPay is available for customers who want payments drawn automatically from a checking or savings account on the bill due date. PSE&G's Payment Assistance page lists additional programs for customers who need help paying their energy bills.
If the goal is to pay the bill in full now and split the cost into smaller repayments, Deferit can pay an eligible PSE&G bill on your behalf and let you repay it in 4 smaller installments.

Common Questions About PSE&G
Does PSE&G charge a late fee? ›
PSE&G does charge a late payment fee on past-due balances. The exact dollar amount or percentage is set by New Jersey BPU tariff and is not published on PSE&G's public website. Can I split my PSE&G bill into 4 installments? ›
PSE&G does not offer a true 4-installment split on a current bill. Its Deferred Payment Arrangement (DPA) lets customers catch up on past-due balances by paying an installment on top of the regular monthly bill over an agreed period, but this increases the total monthly obligation rather than splitting a single bill. For an actual 4-installment split on a current PSE&G bill, Deferit can pay your bill in full now and let you repay across 4 bi-weekly installments. Eligibility checked before you commit.

Customer Service Tips for PSE&G Customers
Have these ready before you call. Account number, billing ZIP, service address, last bill amount, and preferred payment method. For billing and account questions call 1-800-436-7734 (Mon-Fri 7a-8p). For payment arrangements call 1-800-357-2262 (Mon-Fri 7:30a-8p).
How to read your PSE&G bill. Your PSE&G bill shows separate sections for electric delivery, electric supply, natural gas delivery, and natural gas supply. Delivery charges cover the cost of moving energy to your home. Supply charges cover the cost of the energy itself. Taxes, fees, and any past-due balance appear at the bottom. If you are on the Equal Payment Plan, your bill will show the EPP amount and any adjustment toward the annual true-up.
How to lower your bill. Compare this month's usage against prior months in My Account to spot unusual spikes. PSE&G offers the Equal Payment Plan to smooth seasonal highs. AutoPay ensures payments arrive on time and avoids any past-due fees. If the challenge is timing cash flow rather than reducing recurring costs, Deferit's Pay-in-4 option can split your bill in 4 installments, subject to eligibility.
